The following staff members were recognized at the Integrated Services Quarterly Meeting on Tuesday, December 3, 2019.
Marie Romel, Integrated Services Teacher, Poudre High School
(Nominated by PHS Integrated Services Department)
“Marie Romel works tirelessly, everyday for Poudre School District, Poudre High School and for the students with disabilities within the IS Department. At her very core, she cares about the students and their wellbeing. She cares about them being successful, safe, confident and loved.
“She is always willing to drop the million different things that she is doing to help anyone. Have a question about an assessment? Marie is there with an answer. Need to know that one place where interschool memos are kept? Marie knows the exact drawer in the exact corner of a bustling office where they are kept. Need to just vent about a frustrating day you’ve had? Marie is there with a listening ear to let you talk.
“It is easy as a teacher to get lost in the chaos of the everyday business that high school can bring. It is even easier to get lost in the chaos that working as an Integrated Services teacher can bring. Yet, she manages to handle all of that and works together to help support the most important thing in our job … our students.”
Crystal Tani Powell, Board Certified Behavior Analyst
(Nominated for her support at Boltz Middle School; by Kristine Middaugh, School Psychologist; Madeleine van Oppen, IS Teacher; and Bonnie Beach, IS Teacher)
“Without uttering the words, Crystal embodies a mission of “how can I make your job easier.” She has seamlessly integrated herself into the Autism program at Boltz Middle School by being a positive, collaborative, and considerate resource to the team. She inherently recognizes needs, creates lessons and supplements, and passes along strategies. She takes the time to get to know each student, makes easily implemented recommendations, and checks in daily with staff, even when not in the building. We appreciate her dedication to staff and students and feel so fortunate to have the opportunity to celebrate successes due to her influence.”
Thank you both for your service and dedication to EACH and EVERY student in PSD!
